Televised Business Plan Competition

Business Plan competition with screening and feedback from the jury to entrepreneurs that was made assessable to the public via the show.

Ages 18 - 65; high school or college level educated, entrepreneurs of various types - some with companies already others that were only in the ideation phase.

The object was to encourage entrepreneurs to develop business plans for innovative start-ups that would contribute to the creation of wealth and growth of the Portuguese economy.

By televising this “real show” type ideas/business plan competition on the Portuguese public broadcast channel 2 (RTP2) further awareness was developed on how potential entrepreneurs could develop their businesses. The grand prize was 50,000 Euros.

Concept development started in 2006 and the competition started in mid-2007 and went through until mid-2008 with 12 shows

This initiative was sponsored by Grupo CGD, and Portugal Telecom with partnerships with the IAPMEI – Agency for Small and Medium Size Enterprises and Innovation, Taguspark Technology Park with cooperation from the media outlets Jornal de Negócios, Correio da Manhã and Focus. There was also a network developed with 8 institutions of higher learning and 2 science parks.
The television show went very well and had a good television audience.
