Enterprising kids on the TV

“Menudos emprendedores” (Tiny little entrepreneurs) is a TV quiz show where 3 teams of primary school students compete to demonstrate their enterprising skills. The first ten episodes were broadcast last year on TPA, Asturias Regional television channel (Spain). Challenges, games, interviews with entrepreneurs and science experiments gave the kids the chance to put into practice teamwork, creativity, initiative and risk-taking skills. A jury made up by entrepreneurs, local authorities and education experts provided feedback and selected the winning team.

Selected schools and students were already involved in “EME - Emprender en mi Escuela”, an enterprise education project for primary schools developed by Valnalon. During a school year, 11-12 year old students create and develop a cooperative, manufacture their own goods and sell them to real customers in the local market.

The video shows the work developed at Ventanielles Primary School (Asturias, Spain). Within the framework of EME project Year 5 and Year 6 students of the bilingual section created the cooperatives “Easy Recycle” and “Ventanielles Fashion”. The video also illustrates their experience while recording the programme.

Ventanielles Fashion team performance was stunning and they became the overall winners of the final show. All teams were awarded educational resources and IT tools (notebooks, PDAs) by the sponsors of the programme.  Kids were really pleased with this experience that  received extensive coverage by local media.
